How we look after the information you share with us, in plain English.
Who we are
This website is run by JLC Commercial Cleaning Ltd, trading as JLC Cleaning Group. We are the data controller for the personal information described here, which means we decide how it is used.
Company number SC681482, registered in Scotland. Registered office: Torridon House, Torridon Lane, Rosyth, Dunfermline KY11 2EU. Our base: Block 3, Unit 4, Woodend Industrial Estate, Cowdenbeath, Fife KY4 8HW.

What we collect
- Enquiries: your name, email address and message when you use our contact form, plus anything you choose to include, such as a phone number or the address of a building.
- Emails and calls: the details you give us when you contact us directly.
- Job applications: the details and any CV you send us about working with us.
- Customers: contact and site details we need to quote for, carry out and invoice cleaning work.
- Technical data: when you visit the site, our hosting provider records basic technical details such as your IP address and browser type, to keep the site secure and working.
We do not ask for, and do not want, sensitive information such as health details through this website.
Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote, because you asked us to (steps before a contract, or our legitimate interest in answering enquiries).
- To carry out the cleaning work we have agreed with you (contract).
- To consider your job application (steps before an employment contract).
- To keep business, tax and accounting records (legal obligation).
- To keep this website secure and understand, in general terms, which pages are useful (legitimate interests).
We never sell your information and we do not use it for advertising. We will only send you marketing emails if you have asked us to, and you can stop them at any time.
Who we share it with
Only the people and services we need to run the business:
- Our own team, where they need it to do their job.
- Cloudflare, which hosts this website, delivers contact form messages to us, checks that form messages come from a real person, and gives us cookie-free visitor statistics.
- Google, which runs our business email.
- Our website provider, who receives a copy of contact form messages so they can check the form is working and keep a backup. They only use it for that.
- Our accountant, bank and insurers where needed for customer records, and anyone we must share with by law.
Some of these services may handle data outside the UK. Where they do, it is protected by UK adequacy regulations or the UK's approved data transfer agreements.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't lead to work: up to 2 years.
- Customer records: 6 years after our work together ends, for tax and legal reasons.
- Job applications: 6 months after the role is filled, unless you agree we can keep them longer.
- Technical data held by our hosting provider: for the short time their own policies set.
We delete information sooner if you ask and we don't have to keep it by law.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
- ask us to correct it, or to delete it
- ask us to limit how we use it, or object to us using it
- ask us to send it to you, or to someone else, in a common format
- withdraw any consent you have given, at any time

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We'd be grateful for the chance to put it right first.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
